Troop 10 takes a High Adventure (HA) trip every other year, giving Scouts the opportunity to experience some of the most challenging and memorable adventures in Scouting.
Participation in a High Adventure trip requires Scouts to be at least 14 years old and First Class rank or higher. Each trip also involves extensive mandatory preparation and training for both Scouts and adult leaders. This training helps ensure that everyone is prepared for the physical demands, outdoor skills, and responsibilities involved in a High Adventure experience.
Adult leaders who participate in High Adventure trips are expected to be active members of the troop, regularly participate in campouts and other activities, and demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to Scouting principles—including the youth-led method. High Adventure requires Scouts and adults to work closely as a team, and preparation, responsibility, and cooperation are essential to making the experience successful.
High Adventure is a significant commitment, but it is also one of the most rewarding experiences Troop 10 offers. Whether hiking through the mountains of New Mexico, sailing through the Florida Keys, or canoeing through northern Maine, Scouts have the opportunity to challenge themselves, build lasting friendships, and create memories that will stay with them long after the trip is over.
